Nope, This isn’t the yellow pages! Yelp on the iPhone is cooler than you might expect. When it works (a little buggy at times) it works great and lets you find the stuff you care about quickly and easily. Don’t know what’s up? Let Yelp hook you up with what’s poppin’ in the neighborhood. Looking for a new sushi place or wanna find out if that mechanic is telling you the truth? It’s all there and growing faster than ever now with the power of user reviews streaming in from the Yelp iPhone app. Here’s a list of what the app lets you do: Bookmarks Shows your bookmarked business listings. Nearby Shows the hot on Yelp listings near your current location using the iPhone GPS notification service, along with a list of popular categories you can browse like restaurants, bars, banks, coffee and tea, gas service stations, and drugstores. Under business listings you can call the place, get directions, find out their pricing, hours of operation and quickly see if they are currently open. Find out what other Yelpers are saying by reading reviews. New feature : In an effort to bring the social hype to Yelp, add a Quick Tip lets you write a short twitter like message on the business. But you still have the old school option of Rate and draft a full on Review with the underlying approval process. Search The name says it all, and you can narrow down your radius by entering a ZIP or using your current location. New tabs: Feed Shows Nearby reviews, your Friends and Me. Connects you with what’s actually happening right now, and this could become a killer feature of the Yelp app going forward. Recents Shows the listings you’ve viewed in the past and lets you clear the list. Now get off your couch and go try something new! This 3rd Party App is available at the Apple iTunes AppStore.
