Pre-order customers will receive the N8 in October. Here’s two Nokia fun facts for today: former Microsoft Business Division president Stephen Elop started his new job yesterday as Nokia CEO, while long-awaited N8 shipments have been delayed “a few weeks.” Coincidence? I think not! According to Nokia Conversations, the Official Nokia Blog (not to be confused with this one), customers who pre-ordered will receive their N8s in October, instead of late September. We have received a record number of online pre-orders for the Nokia N8. We had targeted our online pre-order customers to receive their N8s by the end of September. As it can take time from the beginning of shipment to arriving at their doorstep, in full transparency, we have advised our pre-order customers that they should expect their new Nokia N8 in October. Reuters also reports the following: “In some markets, we had planned to start delivering the N8s to our pre-order customers by the end of September. To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends,” the company said in a statement, adding that the N8s would reach consumers in October. The N8 , as you may recall, is Nokia’s newest flagship touch-screen smartphone. It has a monster-sized 12 megapixel camera and runs Symbian^3. No idea if this affects the other three phones in the Symbian^3 line: the C6, C7, and E7, or even the elusive MeeGo-powered N9.
