Salesforce.com has announced a new version of its mobile customer relationship management (CRM) application designed for use with Apple’s newly updated iPhone 3.0 operating system. The firm said that users of the iPhone 3.0 software will be able to access data in their Salesforce CRM and Force.com applications via their iPhone or iPod touch. Such features include the ability to cut and paste information from customer records and use it in a number of ways. Salesforce detailed the new features in a blog post, which include the ability to “clone” records with a thumb swipe to save on repetitious typing tasks, and to swiftly update customer information after finishing a sales call. Calls and emails can be initiated within the application, again saving time, and a number of sales-specific tools are included as standard. Other features include management dashboards, and reporting and sales analytics tools. The firm said that all data stored on the device would be secure and encrypted by Salesforce CRM. Salesforce CRM Mobile is available free from Apple’s iPhone App Store. A version of the Mobile app is supplied as standard with Salesforce Unlimited Edition. Apple announced the latest version of its iPhone operating system in March and released it today. New features include an improved calendar, a landscape keyboard and better search tools.
