Review: Proporta TurboCharger 5000 External Emergency Charger Battery Pack
Ever since mobile phones, MP3 players and other gadgets became an important part of our life, running out of power or not having the right charging cable can be quite irritating. We all love our smartphones, PDAs or media players but without backup power source, we often calculate battery times and try not to be left with a necessary but unusable device because it run out of power. The solution in this unpleasant situation would be an external battery and in this particular case we are talking about TurboCharger 5000 – Proporta’s external battery pack and emergency charger.
This is a small, about the size of an iPhone, device that is made of matte, slick plastic. The product allows you to recharge almost any mobile phone or other device numerous times, anywhere. The TurboCharger 5000 is compatible with any device that can use a standard USB port for charging and it can even recharge Apple iPad with it’s 5000mAh worth of power.
The device features one Mini USB input port that is used to charge the TurboCharger 5000, and two USB output ports which are used to charge other devices. The two output ports can be used to charge two devices simultaneously. TurboCharger 5000 two outlets are labeled “Low” and “High”, which means that one of them can be used to charge standard phones and devices, while the other is designed for devices that require more power, such as Apple iPad. The “on/off” button on top of the battery and three LED strips indicate the charging status and remaining battery power.
The product comes with various connectors in order to allow devices such as iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia, HTC, MP3 player, PDA and many others to be easily charged by using just one cable. Also included in the pack is a small carry bag which can contain the battery, retractable compact USB cable and all of the connectors.
During the tests, fully charged TurboCharger 5000 performed as expected and was able to recharge numerous devices for a few times. Over a period of 3 days, TurboCharger 5000 fully charged an older Mio P360 PDA, iPhone 4, few different MP3 players, X3 micro bluetooth headset, Nokia N95, and Samsung Galaxy S. All devices where at least 70% empty during tests and were recharged as quickly as it usually takes using their original manufacturer cables/chargers. TurboCharger 5000 itself arrived ready for usage with about 30% charged battery and it took about 4 hours to fully charge it.
The device is extremely useful for people who might find themselves with discharged mobiles, media players or headsets. The device is lightweight and stylish, small enough, got very generous battery capacity, and you will understand how desperately you need it the very next time you find yourself stuck with a discharged device.
