Aside from confirming the name “Moto X” and the fact that the device will be assembled in the U.S., Motorola has remained fairly tight-lipped about its upcoming “hero” smartphone. Today we can add one more feature to the list, though, thanks to a new Motorola advertisement that’s set to begin running in several newspapers on July 3. A report over at AdAge has revealed a new Motorola ad for the Moto X that focuses heavily on the fact that the handset will be manufactured in the U.S. However, Motorola drops the line “The first smartphone that you can design yourself.” in the middle of the ad, suggesting that users will have some sort of control over the design of the Moto X that they purchase. Exactly how much control that is remains to be seen. Smartphones today aren’t exactly what one would call “customizable,” as the sole decision that consumers typically get to make about their new device is which color (in a predetermined set) that they’ll get it in. It’s not clear if Moto X buyers will simply choose the color of their phone or if the customization will go even deeper, but the promise of a smartphone that buyers can design for themselves sounds pretty intriguing. Many folks would probably like to be able to customize the different parts that go into their Moto X, but even if buyers are simply able to choose the color of their new phone, that’d still be an interesting move that could help to grow consumer interest in the Moto X. What level of customization do you think that Motorola will allow with the Moto X? Via The Verge, AdAge
