Review: Proporta TurboCharger 5000 – External Emergency Charger Battery Pack
One big difference between the regular HTC One and the new Google Play edition HTC One is the fact that the former is currently running Android 4.1, while the latter will come to market with Android 4.2 in tow. It looks like that’s changed in at least one part of the globe, though, as HTC has updated its flagship One smartphone to Android 4.2 in Taiwan. HTC has revealed on its official support site that it has begun rolling out an update to the Taiwanese version of the One that brings the device up to software version 2.24.709.1. Included is a bump up to Android 4.2.2 as well as a number of tweaks and improvements, including an enhanced launcher bar, a Quick Settings menu in the status bar and an option to remove the three-dot menu bar that has been plaguing One owners in some apps. The full (machine-translated) changelog for the HTC One’s Android 4.2.2 is as follows: System improvements Android 4.2.2 upgrade Improved personal experience started out Arranged in the order of the main screen to add functionality New lock screen style: electronic gadgets Button on the main screen to improve user experience New Home button option to remove the virtual menu button Power improvements Added display the battery meter in the status bar options Notifications panel improvements Quick Settings panel: use two-finger gestures with 12 sliding open the Notifications panel fast setting Photo Gallery / Camera improvements AE / AF lock: Long tap the screen shot on the screen to start the exposure / focus lock function Zoe: Improved Zoe photo formats, allowing more convenient file management Video Highlights living micro film: Added 6 kinds of different styles of music theme Music improvements Music Channel: Added progress bar to fast forward / backward function, enhance their musical experience HTC Sense Input Support more Chinese words An HTC One owner in Taiwan has confirmed to Android Central that the update is indeed rolling out there. Unfortunately for One owners that don’t call Taiwan home, it appears that country is the only place where the new software is pushing. The good news is that the update at least gives the rest of us a nice preview of what to expect when HTC does begin updating the One to Android 4.2.2 in other nations. It looks like there are quite a few big improvements in store, but I’m betting that the ability to remove the three-dot menu bar will be one of the tweaks that owners get most excited about. What do you HTC One owners think of this 2.24.709.1 update? Is there anything else that you think should’ve been included? Via HTC Taiwan (Google Translate), Android Central
