HF-310: Looks like some kind of horn. For those of you trying to avoid the embarassment at wearing a Bluetooth headset while in the car, there’s some hope: the HF-310. Essentially it’s a giant Bluetooth speaker that’s more in-your-face than the previous sun-visor offering, the HF-300 . The HF-310 comes with three mounting options – a windshield mount, dashboard plate, and the aforementioned sun-visor mount. I imagine that last one would be akin to putting a boombox right up to the ear but less pleasant. Unlike the other Bluetooth car speakerphones like the HF-35W and HF-6W which plug directly into your car’s cigarette lighter, the HF-310 has an internal battery that can last up to 30 hours on one charge (standby time of 960 hours, 40 days). The nice thing is the device actually uses Nokia’s standard 2mm charging jack, and it comes with the Nokia DC-4 car charger, so you can keep your HF-310 + Nokia phone charged up and ready to go. Don’t expect too much in the way of buttons: there’s a grand total of two (Send/End and Power), along with a bonus rotating volume ring. Other essential specs: Bluetooth 2.0 + Handsfree profile 1.5, digital signal processing (DSP), compatible with any Bluetooth-enabled phone that supports the 1.5 Handsfree profile. One comment so far, why not make it two?

I thought I’d give this Nokia hands free a try, I have tried many of these devices before and I’m afraid this device suffers from the same problems as most.
    1. The device volume is not loud enough to be sufficient on a busy motorway at 70mph.
    2. The microphone is located on the top rear of the device and people just cannot hear your conversation easily.
All in all I’m sorry to say, another waste of money, sorry Nokia I really expected this one to be better!
